Load testing
A load test is the most direct proof that a lifting system behaves correctly under real load. Zella Cranes brings its own certified test weights and documents every result.

When a load test is called for
A test under load is useful — and in several situations expected — when:
- a new crane or lifting device is commissioned
- a major repair or structural modification has been carried out
- equipment has been out of service for a long period
- there are doubts about the condition or the rated capacity of the machine
- the manufacturer's instructions or the statutory verification framework require verification under load
How we test
We bring our own ballast and certified test weights, in all sizes from 200 kg up to 45 t, so the test load matches the machine being verified. Weights are applied in defined steps — typically up to 125% of the crane's rated load, or higher where the application requires it — while the crane performs hoisting, travel and braking manoeuvres. During the test we take the technical measurements that matter: stress–strain behaviour and girder deflection, and, where earlier records exist, a direct comparison between the new readings, previous measurements and the manufacturer's values or the crane's specifications.
Evaluation and reporting
Load tests are conducted under the responsibility of qualified engineers, and every test ends with a formal written report: the loads applied, the measurements taken, the behaviour observed and the verdict on safe operation. The result is documented evidence you can file in the equipment's history and present during verifications.
Load tests and statutory verifications
Where the statutory periodic verification of lifting equipment is required, it is performed by the bodies provided for by law — INAIL, the local health authority or subjects authorized for the purpose. Zella Cranes performs load tests as a technical service to the equipment owner and supports the preparation of the equipment and documentation for statutory verifications.
